Here’s a couple pictures of the Novo Sleep System catalogue photo shoot from yesterday. There was a lot of steaming going on with pillows, duvets and covers, but at least this time we didn’t have to deal with feathers flying around everywhere like the “Fight for your right” video shoot. And I have to say…. a steamer is a major blessing… I think I might trade my iron in for a one.

If you have 15 minutes (which I recommend you make time for) check out this video called “It’s better in the wind”. It’s basically just showing the importance of traveling with your friends and experiencing places/things with the people that you love. It definitely makes me want to take the CT70 out for a ride….or go get my proper motorcycle license.

WOW. How did January go by so fast? It’s already the 25th… what the sheesh?

So I think it’s pretty obvious, I’m a sucker for crafts. Lately my husband and I have been doing small DIY projects around our house. Kinda like a light renovation. So I’m pretty much obsessed with home decor right now (good thing I love it so much since alot of my work includes sales centres)! I’m the type of person that see’s a DIY project as more of a challenge. Kinda like saying “pff I can do it better then they can”. So I’m sharing some DIY’s that I’ve found online that I’ll be doing or have done!

1. Seed Bombs

I’ve seen these on Etsy alot. And have always wanted to learn how to make them. You can use almost any seeds. And what a great way to “graffiti” an area. Throw them in random areas or just random parts of your own yard. Or they’re great for gifts! How can you not like them, flowers make everyone happy!

Seed Bombs

2. Wood Pallet

Adam and I are actually in the middle of making this. It’s inexpensive and can give your room an industrial feel. All you need is paint or stain, 2 wood pallet’s and wheels (we’re using iron legs). Usually the spacing between wood slates is large, you could use a piece of glass on top, but we’re adjusting the slates to be closer by using the 2nd pallet.

Or you could make a herb garden on your patios. All you have to do is lay the pallet down. Put a solid backing on it (you could use plywood). Fill with dirt. Then plant which ever herbs or plants you would like in between the slats. Set up right and attach a bracket from the pallet to the wall so that it doesn’t fall down (you probably don’t need to, but just incase I would). Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

3. Paint Chip Art

Abeautifulmess.typepad.com is a fabulous blog. Elsie (what a great name) has lots of fun ideas. It’s uber girly; she talks cloths, home decor & cooking. A dream website for any girl. This one is really fun and again inexpensive. All you need is a great frame and go to your local Home Depot and snake some paint chips, as well as a little time.

Paint Chip Art

4. Frozen Vodka Bottle

This would be great for the summer. Or actually any time and for any booze. I actually found this via Food Network (a dangerous and amazing channel) when Jamie Oliver was doing his christmas special.

1. Grab your hard liquor of choice Tequila, Vodka, Gin whatever (I prefer Akavit, a danish schnapps) 2. Cut the top off a 1Litre plastic pop bottle 3. Set your bottle into the plastic bottle. 4. Add greenery, objects, whatever you like. Flowers are always nice. 5. Fill with water and put into freezer. 6. When your ready run under warm water and pull the plastic bottle off. Shizaam! Done!

Every so often I like to go on the 99percent.com and read some of their articles and just generally snoop around. The writing is well done and the articles are always interesting & informative. Today I came across this interview with Facebook’s Ben Barry, a designer in more ways than one. It was cool to read his article because you could really relate to him. He’s not a perfect prodigy designer, which it seems that everyone wants to be, but who is? We live in a age where perfection is the only thing that’s acceptable and no one likes to talk about the mistakes. It’s like you should be amazing right out the gate. In Ben’s case he talks about those mistakes openly and honestly, and how that’s helped him along the way to become who he is, which is really refreshing. He also gives some great advice to be successful in a field that is so flooded with people that want to be making $250,000 year (Oh god how I wish). If your a student just graduating from University in design this is a great article to read. Lots of great advice and good insight into the design industry.

A sneak peak of our newest boutique development, Alexa.

Conveniently positioned between two major hubs; Guildford Town Centre & the Surrey Central Mall, yet surrounded by parks and trail systems, Alexa gives the buyer easy access to everything they need. With the first of these 20+ townhomes slated to hit the market early spring, we think that Alexa is going to be a big hit in this up and coming neighborhood. Can’t wait to show everyone the finished product!

For all the drinkers out there. We’ve created a collection of delicious beverages to have around the holiday season. Something to take the edge off from all the hustle and bustle.

1. Bailey’s & Coffee.
Keep it simple and go with the original. Perfect for Christmas morning!

2. Boiler Makers with Spicebox whiskey.
Ya guys, we keep it classy here at Invision. For this you can use any lager, I personally love Lucky Lager. Trust us this is wicked good, it’ll make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. AND it kinda taste like a winter ale.

3. Mulled Wine.
This is for anyone who LOVES sangria in the summer time. It’s like a
winter sangria. Pour a decent bottle of wine in a pot and put it over
low heat (you do not want it to come to a boil or you’ll lose all that alcohol deliciousness). Add 2 cinnamon sticks, 4-5 cloves, some orange slices, a little bit of sugar, some nutmeg & a splash brandy or rum.
It’s like sangria, a little of this and a little of that. It’s totally up to you!

4. Granville Island Winter Ale
This is the type of beer that people hoard away before stores run out. Its pretty much Christmas in a bottle.

5. Glenmorangie Scotch Whiskey.
Think about it. Sitting by a fire, wearing a turtle neck, enjoying the nice smooth taste of scotch…..is it 5 yet?

6. White Cranberry Martini
For the ladies (or gents) who want something a little fancy this not only looks wintery but goes down a little too easy. Mix white cranberry juice, & vodka. Then top with sugar dusted cranberries and a sprig of fresh mint.

7. Rum and Egg Knog
A classic at the holiday season. But what about switching it up a bit?
Try an Eggnog shot ( 1/3 Khalua, 1/3 Eggnog, 1/3 rum).

8. Tea Twirler
We totally just made this name up, and we haven’t tried this one yet… but it sounds good. Brew some breakfast tea or orange pekoe and just throw a little splash of spiced rum in there.

Project: Smart Seal

Type: Identity/Stationery Package

Year: 2008

Description: In 2008 Franklin Coatings approached us to help brand a new way of sealing industrial roofs. By applying SmartSeal fluid rubber system, this seal can provide a water proofing system that eliminates the chance of leaking through seams by creating a water proofing membrane. This is especially helpful when creating “green” roofs or roofs with vegetation where water leakage is more probable. We created a simple, effective and classic treatment. Even though this was damn near 4 years ago, the logo is still attractive and communicates clearly to the consumer.

Julien, one of the little people we sponsor, was lucky enough to be found by Danita of Danita’s Children shortly after the earthquake in Port-Au Prince on January 12th, 2010. He was discovered in one of the hundreds of tent cities A missionary worker named Brittney wrote shortly after finding Julien:

“I’m sitting in a hospital bed with our newest and youngest little baby boy named Julien. Imagine the worst place you could ever think of your child living in- that’s where we found Julien. A slum where the homes are made of pieces of twigs with sheets draped over them, where pigs are running around feeding on people’s waste. A slum located at the bottom of a hill so when the rain falls it washes over the hundreds and thousands of rotting bodies above before it rushes down to fill the stream the people bathe in and drink from… Children drinking water that just washed over their 3 week dead family member… There’s no food, no water- just scribbled writing on a piece of cardboard at the entrance that sums it all up… WE NEED HELP. In this slum was a little 10 pound, 1 year old boy who was dying. Danita offered the people looking after him help and now here we are- 4th day in a group room in a hospital a few hours away from our orphanage. He’s suffering from malnutrition and a bad case of pneumonia. Both can be cured with a simple treatment but there’s no doubt that he would have died without it. He just lost his home, his mother, and everything and everyone he’s ever known…. and we wonder why he cries through the night, everynight.”

Julien is now almost three. He is thriving and has many friends. He is cared for at the orphanage by a very special lady named Jen Wride. Jen is in her 30’s and has selflessly given up her life to help those in need in Haiti. A true angel, we are thankful that Julien has Jen to watch over him. If you’d like to learn more about Jen and her mission work, please check out www.jeninhaiti.org
